Mobile Apps

Looking for mobile apps for optometry/ophthalmology?  Take a look at the list compiled by the Association of Vision Science Librarians (AVSL).  The list includes both free and paid apps and is divided into categories for:

  • Vision Science Specific
  • Vision Tests
  • Journals & Reference Searches
  • PDF Organizers
  • Drug Reference
  • Medical Translators
  • Anatomy
  • General Medicine
  • Evidence Based Medicine

We also have an LHL Guide on mobile technology that has core medical apps, calculators, guidelines, and more.  One neat feature of the guide is the index that has a description of all the apps featured on the guide–it even has subtabs for iPhone/iPad and Android.

Questions about any of these apps?  Just Ask a Librarian!

DynaMed Trial

UAB has a trial to DynaMed, a desktop and mobile decision-making  point-of-care tool, to assist health professionals with clinical care.

To download and access DynaMed on your mobile device during the trial, you have to e-mail Liz Lorbeer (lorbeer@uab.edu or 205-934-2460) at LHL to obtain a DynaMed serial number.

The UAB Health System is soliciting anonymous feedback from our health professionals and students on the usefulness of the DynaMed product. If you use DynaMed, please take the time to fill out a short survey on your experience with it. The trial ends Friday, June 8, 2012. The DynaMed mobile application will not work once the trial concludes.

If you have questions regarding the trial to DynaMed, please contact Liz Lorbeer.
