National Library Week @LHL: Fine Amnesty, Food AND Facebook

Celebrate National Library Week @ LHL: April 11 – 15

FINE AMNESTY WEEK, Monday – Friday: There’s no excuse to hold onto those overdue items any longer! Return them during National Library Week and have up to $10 in fines waived for these items.

SNACKS ON THE PLAZA on Tuesday, from 11 to 1: Join us for our ever-popular Snacks on the Plaza with free food & fun. We’ve ordered beautiful weather and lots of hotdogs so enjoy lunch al fresco on us.

TECH TUNE-UP: FACEBOOK PRIVACY on Wednesday at noon: Have you been thinking about jumping on the Facebook bandwagon but are concerned about what personal information others can see? Or maybe you’re a current Facebook user that hardly has time to keep up with the ever so frequent settings changes? Join us for a brief but informative look at some of the privacy settings in Facebook and learn how you can better protect yourself. This one hour class will take place in the Electronic Classroom; bring a lunch if you like.

AFTERNOON TEA on Wednesday from 1 to 3: Stick around after our FB class or come by just for tea. We’ll have baked goods and a wide assortment of black, green, and herbal tea. For all of those studying for tests, we’ll have plenty of Tao Awake tea on hand. Tea is served on the first floor near the Leisure Reading Collection.

EXPRESS TRAINING: ENDNOTE WEB on Thursday at noon: Learn to use Endnote Web to store and apply styles to citations for your papers or research. This class, located in the electronic classroom, features focused training with plenty of hands-on exercises and time for your questions. Bring a (non-messy) brown bag lunch if you like; Lister Hill will provide snacks and drinks.

Heads Up Alabama (20 Heads interpreted by 22  Alabama Artists)

The aPAF Foundation’s public education campaign, titled “Heads Up Alabama! Psychology Promotes Healthy Living,” addresses the critical role played by psychological components (behavior and emotions) in overall health and wellness.
“Heads Up Alabama” is an effort to engage the public in discovery of this information through accessible public art. Be sure to stop by the exhibit if you are in the library.  This is the last stop of this traveling exhibit. More information:  Traveling Exhibit on Display April 1 to May 31
