Citation Alerts in Google Scholar

Setting citation alerts in Google Scholar

Alerts for citations to articles can be set using the email alert in Google Scholar.

  • First, search for the article. (Tip-used the Advanced Search page, putting the title in the “exact phrase” box, and “in the title of the article” in the “where my words occur” box.)
  • After the record is retrieved, click on “cited by”

  • Choose the envelope on the bar at the top of the result list.  Be sure to verify the request by responding to the email sent to the address you provide.

  • The result list may provide some unique citations, including cites in book chapters, meeting abstracts and other sources not indexed by WOS, and not necessarily peer-reviewed.
