Personalize layout and content on BlazerNet

You can personalize the tabs and channels the research page or create your own customized view on the My Stuff Tab.  Some changes you can make include:

•Reorder your tabs

•Add channels to existing tabs

•Reorder channels on a given tab

•Remove unneeded channels

You may not be able to perform all of these layout changes on every tab or channel.

Please be careful when making changes to your layout! These changes are permanent, and the prior settings cannot be restored without completely resetting your account back to its original layout.  For more specific information on how to personalize the layout from the User Preferences page, click the Help icon located in the system toolbar and then select the topics within the Portal folder displayed in the Help Index Menu.

NCBI BioSystems Database is now Public!

If you use pathways databases, the NCBI BioSystems database (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/biosystems/) is now public.  A biosystem, or biological system, is a group of molecules that interact in a biological system. One type of biosystem is a biological pathway, which can consist of interacting genes, proteins, and small molecules. Another type of biosystem is a disease, which can involve components such as genes, biomarkers, and drugs.

The ABOUT page (
.html) gives a bit of background information. Tabs on this page connect to excellent support documentation, including “how to’s”, search strategies and FAQs. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Structure/biosystems/docs/biosystems_about

The database can be searched directly or accessed via links from databases such as Entrez Gene, Protein, PubChem Compound, and more.   The BioSystems database page footer contains a link to the Help Desk (info@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov), where questions can be sent.  NCBI hopes users  will find this database helpful and appreciate their comments and feedback.
